POWER/CYCLE MEASURES ATHLETIC POWER

As shown here, the speed (i.e.; RPM) at which a person reaches their maximal power predicts the types of muscle fibers that a person possesses. People who reach maximal power at a high speed possess mostly fast twitch muscle fibers and are usually best at sprinting and power sports. People who reach maximal power at low speeds (RPM) possess mostly slow twitch muscle fibers and are usually best at endurance sports such as distance running and cycling. Most people have a roughly even number of slow and fast twitch muscle fibers and thus reach maximal power at approximately 120 RPM.
